LAHORE – The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf on Wednesday taking U-turn in Punjab Assembly withdraw its resolution for making the hijab mandatory for college girls.
On Tuesday, a proposal put forward by Punjab Higher Education Minister Syed Raza Gillani to make hijab mandatory for female students stirred a new controversy. He proposed that five extra marks will be given to the students on following the policy.
After moments, a spokesperson of Punjab government denied such policy regarding hijab for female students in the institutions.
As the government clarifies its policy, a provincial legislator of PTI Nabila Hakim Ali Khan presented a resolution before the Assembly endorsing the suggestion of the Education minister.
But today the PTI filed a contradictory resolution in the provincial assembly, urging the government not to make the hijab mandatory for girls.
