Mercedes driver arrested for blocking children ambulance

MOSCOW – A Mercedes SUV driver, who did not give precedence to the children’s ambulance, has been detained in Moscow city, according to Russian media.

The 34-year-old resident of Moscow, suspected of committing a specified crime, was detained on Monday.

On Sunday, the REN TV Federal Channel had aired a video showing the Mercedes driver blocking the way for ambulance rushing to a sick child, as it turned out later. The driver left his car to confront the ambulance driver after the latter honked at him a few times.

Following the incident, Russian Investigation Committee head Aleksandr Bastrykin ordered to open the case for blocking the way for an ambulance, according to the Office of Public Affairs of the Russian Investigative Committee.

Also on Sunday, another criminal case was opened on the fact of an attack on ambulance doctors, who came to a call to a 35-year-old resident of the capital.

It is noted that the man, being in a state of intoxication, behaved aggressively and began to throw furniture in the doctors arrived.

“The paramedics suffered bodily injuries due to the said illegal actions,” the Committee pointed out.
