BEIJING – China is going to implement its Cybersecurity Law from June 1, barring service providers from gathering and selling users’ personal information, Xinhua news reported.
According to the law passed in November last year, the Internet service providers can collect only relevant information of its users, adding they should handle the information in line with laws and agreement.
Under the law, the users can move service providers to remove their information if it is abused.
The cybersecurity management staff will be liable to protect the users information obtained, and will not sell or disclose any privacy and commercial secrets.
Heavy fines will be imposed on those who will not follow the instructions regarding personal information.
The law also states that no one can use the Internet to conduct fraud or sell prohibited goods.
