Pakistan Mission to UN organsies Sufi Night

NEW YORK (Web Desk) – Pakistan Mission to the UN on Thursday organised a Sufi Night in New York to draw out support for the organisations engaged in philanthropic and humanitarian activities in Pakistan.

The Mission Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi , while addressing the participants, said that ‘Sufi night’  was inspired by the spiritual practice of ‘zikr’ (remembrance of God), reminding us of the universal message of oneness of the Divine,  and a message of love, compassion,  tolerance and seeking the truth.

She said that she was delighted to host the first such events of public diplomacy she wanted to undertake in New York and promised there would be many such evenings showcasing Pakistan’s music, heritage and rich culture.

Introducing the Qawals, Ambassador Lodhi said that Farid Ayaz and Abu Muhammed were not only great musicians and artists but “Ambassadors of the spiritual values that we pride ourselves in”.

She acknowledged and appreciated the volunteers and sponsors who worked together to make the event possible.

Aman Foundation aims to champion dignity and choice for the underprivileged, focusing on Health, Nutrition and Education through direct interventions. Another organization mentioned was one that provides food and other support to migrants and needy in New York City.

The Qawali performance lasted for around three hours and was thoroughly enjoyed by over 250 people in the audience.
