Nokia rolls out Android 8.0 Oreo as part of beta testing program

DUBAI- On Wednesday, smartphone giant Nokia announced ‘Nokia Beta labs’, a program through which users can run Beta Versions of Android 8.0 Oreo on their Nokia phones.

According to chief production officer HMD-Global (The Home of Nokia Phones) ‘Juho Sarvikas’, currently only Nokia 8 users can install this beta update on their smartphones.

However, later HMD clarified that they were stating with Nokia 8, adding that users of other Nokias-3, 5 and 6 will also be eligible for the program.

Joining Nokia phones beta labs update program is completely free, although being a beta program, users should not expect a completely stable experience. The final Oreo build is expected to hit all Nokia phones by the end of 2017.

The process requires you to sign in to your Nokia account and then visit the Beta Labs page to confirm the IMEI and network operator of your handset.

After that it’s a simple matter of waiting for the notification or forcing the handset to check for a system update and the beta will be available over the air and installed in the normal way.

The new update includes improved security patches, system stability and user-interface enhancements.
