Karachi to get Chinese electric buses

KARACHI – A Chinese company is willing to introduce electric buses worth $600 million in Karachi to mitigate commuting problems of the mega city.

Sindh Transport Minister Nasir Hussain Shah stated on Monday that the new buses which are smoke and noise pollution free would improve the environmental standards of the city.

A six-member delegation of Chinese company, Eco-Bus, led by their head Thomas Wang called on city mayor Wasim Akhtar and described the benefits of using the electric buses, which once charged would run for 280 kilometers.

The delegation told the mayor that the buses would provide thousands of new jobs and 500 service stations would be made in the city to charge them.
