Muslim convert rugby player Sonny B Williams travels to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah

MECCA, SAUDI ARABIA – The All Backs star New Zealander and Muslim convert, Sonny B Williams made a visit to the holy cite of Mecca (Saudi Arabia) to perform Umrah.

Sonny B Williams converted to Islam in 2009. He made the trip to Saudia before preseason training with Super Rugby team the Blues. Sonny has been posting pictures on his social media and fans have been in love.

He wrote on his Twitter, “What an amazing feeling visiting the prophets (as) holy masjid (mosque” in Madinah.”

He said in another post, “Thanks to the Shiek’s for their insightful knowledge today.”

“I’m a proud Muslim. It’s given me a feeling of happiness and contentment I’ve always looked for. I see it as a responsibility. Before I became a Muslim, I lived up in a flash house in Toulon and would worry about where the pair of boots I’d ordered were or some rubbish like that,” Sonny has said about his conversion to Islam.
