The game-changer Jurassic Park turns 25

LOS ANGELES- It’s been 25 years since “Jurassic Park” roared into theatres. The Steven Spielberg action thriller was a massive hit, sending every summer tentpole before it into near-extinction. This year marks the silver anniversary of this blockbuster movie.

“Jurassic Park” the movie was based on author Michael Crichton’s 1990 novel of the same name. The original idea for ‘Jurassic Park’ was inspired by Crichton’s attempt in 1983 to write a screenplay about a Pterodactyl being cloned from an egg.

This movie laid the foundation for a new era in Film Industry and till date the fans and followers love watching Jurrasic Park.

The unique feature of this thriller movie was the ‘dinosaurs’ and these were considered a landmark breakthrough in the evolution of animatronics and special effects technology. The daunting dinos were created with innovative and pioneering computer-generated imagery by Industrial Light and Magic along with life-size animatronics by Stan Winston’s team.

Jurassic Park, unadjusted for inflation, made just over $1 billion at the box office and remains one of the most financially successful movies ever.

To date, this movie has made $3.8 billion worldwide and, once Jurassic World: the Fallen Kingdom arrives in theaters on June 22, that number is going to increase substantially. To celebrate, have a look back at Universal Pictures’ original Jurassic Park teaser trailer:
