Imran Khan to implement British legislature style accountability for himself

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman and the Prime Minister-in-waiting, Imran Khan has announced that he would hold himself accountable in line with British legislature traditions and would take part in the question-answer session every week.

Addressing the parliamentary party meeting, the upcoming PM expressed that his objective was not to become a lawmaker or premier but to fulfill the promises made in the election campaign.

‘I would not demand anything from you which I cannot fulfill myself,’ vowed the cricketer-turned-politician and added that he would appear before the lawmakers and answer their queries for one hour per week.

‘We would also hold the ministers accountable in a true sense,’ announced Khan who is due to take the oath of his office in the next few weeks.

The 65-year-old politician claimed that the PTI government would face a morally weak opposition, taking a sarcastic jibe at his arch-rival, Maulana Fazl ur Rehman.

He admitted that Pakistan was facing an economic turmoil at the moment for which the government would make efforts adding that the overseas Pakistanis would be contacted in this regard.

‘The masses are looking forward to you for your policies,’ said the PM-elect.

Khan, whose party had secured 116 seats in the General Elections 2018, expressed that it is a rare development that a third force had emerged out of a two party system.

‘You have to show unity for uplifting the impoverished class of the society as the people perceive PTI as a different political entity,’ announced the upcoming premier.

Khan expressed that he had toiled for 22 years for witnessing the day but hastened to add that he carried a massive baggage of responsibility.

The Prime Minister-elect clarified that the lawmakers need to save money so it could be spent on the betterment of the people.

Earlier in the day, PTI’s parliamentary party meeting posed full trust in Imran Khan and nominated him as the candidate of PM from the party.
