ISLAMABAD (Web desk/APP): Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid Wednesday said Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan was in the habit of starting chorus of rigging allegations whenever he apprehended defeat.
The minister, in a statement, said Imran Khan’s allegations of rigging in 2013 general election were exposed in the constituencies where votes recounting was ordered by respective election tribunals.
The PTI chief should accept the reality that majority of the people did not vote for his party and avoid hoodwinking the public by levelling baseless allegations, he added.
He said Imran Khan faced embarrassment in all the constituencies where votes recount was conducted on his insistence. It was unfair that he (Imran) was holding his own court and not abiding by law of the land like his ‘Taliban brothers’, he added.
Pervaiz Rashid said Imran Khan was narrating misleading things contrary to the facts revealed in the report of commission formed by the election tribunal for recounting of votes.
He said it was astonishing that Imran Khan had accused Pakistan Peoples Party leader Asif Ali Zardari of indulging in rigging to favour the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz. The minister said it was beyond his understanding that till yesterday Imran Khan had no confidence in the Election Commission and today he expressed his trust in it. “And today he (Imran) is not satisfied with the election tribunal on which he had full faith yesterday.”
Imran Khan, he said, should abandon this practice and instead play a role in the fight against terrorism. He should also give attention to the welfare of common man in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), where he was given mandate by the people in the election. People in KP were forced to travel in buses with bad condition and the PTI government should launch a decent public transport service like Metro Bus Service to mitigate their sufferings, he added.
