LAHORE – The PTI and Jamaat-e-Islami vehemently criticised the PML-N government for “bowing to the foreign pressure and putting a sincere Pakistani like Hafiz Saeed under house arrest.”
The opposition MPAs staged a token boycott from the Punjab Assembly in protest at the house arrest chief Hafiz Saeed.
The opposition boycotted the session at the request of Jamaat-i-Islami MPA Dr Wasim Akhtar. Mr Akhtar said Mr Saeed had made the Kashmir issue alive and there had been a lot of social work on the credit of Falah-i-Insaniat. He demanded the immediate release of Saeed and other JuD leaders.
Mian Mehmood-ul-Rasheed, the opposition leader in Punjab Assembly, said it was visible that PML-N government had literally bowed before foreign powers. He demanded an immediate withdrawal of the detention orders of Hafiz Saeed. Moreover, Dr Waseem Akhter, the parliamentary leader of JI, also expressed dismay over the arrest of Hafiz Saeed while terming it totally unacceptable, and staged the walkout against the incident.
Meanwhile, Nabila Hakim Ali, a PTI legislator, submitted a resolution in the PA Secretariat demanding government immediate withdraw of the orders of Hafiz Mohammed Saeed’s detention. Nabila Hakim Ali in the resolution submitted that Hafiz Saeed was a sincere and patriotic Pakistani who had a significant role in boosting the freedom movement in the Indian-held Kashmir.
Speaking on the point of order, Opposition Leader Mahmoodur Rasheed said the PML-N government had taken action against Mr Saeed because of the United States and India. “Action against Saeed shows that the government has succumbed to Indian pressure,” he said, adding that Mr Saeed was being punished for raising voice for the rights of Kashmiris and no one could doubt his patriotism.
Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said the government and JuD’s policy on Kashmir was different.
