Zimbabwe President Mugabe proposes to marry President Obama

HARARE (Web Desk) –  Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe has mocked America’s decision to legalise gay marriage across all 50 states by vowing to travel to the White House and proposing to President Barack Obama.

During his weekly interview with Zimbabwe’s national radio station, Mugabe joked that he planned to travel to Washington DC ‘get down on one knee and ask his hand’.

In response to the landmark ruling of the Supreme Court of United States (SCOTUS) regarding equal marriage rights for gays and lesbians, Mugabee, who is known for his brutal crusades against homosexuality, said, “I’ve just concluded – since President Obama endorses the same-sex marriage, advocates homosexual people and enjoys an attractive countenance – thus if it becomes necessary, I shall travel to Washington, DC, get down on my knee and ask his hand.”

Hundreds of people gather outside the US Supreme Court building in Washington, DC on June 26, 2013 in anticipation of the ruling on California's Proposition 8, the controversial ballot initiative that defines marriage as between a man and a woman. The US Supreme Court on Wednesday struck down a controversial federal law that defines marriage as a union between a man and a woman, in a major victory for supporters of same-sex marriage. The Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) had denied married gay and lesbian couples in the United States the same rights and benefits that straight couples have long taken for granted. Striking a more serious tone, he added, “I can’t understand how this people dare to defy Christ’s explicit orders as our Lord prohibited mankind from sodomy’, going on to accuse the U.S. government of being run by ‘perverted Satan-worshipers who insult the great American nation.”

His comments came only hours after the US Supreme Court’s landmark decision to legalise gay marriage in all 50 states – prompting thousands of same-sex couples to immediately tie the knot.
