DARWIN – Australia on Saturday won the four matches hockey series following the 5-3 victory over Pakistan in a nail-biting final test at the Darwin International Hockey Open.

Pakistan took lead in the fourth minute of the match with the help of Abu Mahmood’s wonderful field goal. Australia struck back within no seconds and levelled the scores when Kiran Arunasalam succeeded in putting the ball into the net on a penalty corner.
In the tenth minute of the match, Aussie skipper Mark Knowles gave his team a lead of 2-1 by scoring on a penalty stroke.
Muhammad Umar Bhutta levelled the match in the 21st minute and Abu Mahmood struck for the second time in the match only two minutes later and Pakistan went ahead by 3-2.
Australia’s Trent Mitton registered a field goal in final minute of the first half and levelled the scores once again.
The kangaroos remained dominant in the second half where Aaron Kleinschmidt and Flynn Ogilvie registered one goal each and gave the hosts a deciding lead of 5-3 to complete the clean sweep.
