Tensions with India: PM Nawaz to chair meeting of parliamentary parties heads on Monday

ISLAMABAD – In the wake of soaring tensions on eastern border, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is set to chair a meeting of heads of parliamentary parties on Monday.

The participants will be briefed about the security situation on the Line of Control (LoC) and the international boundary with India. The deteriorating situation of Indian-held Kashmir will also be discussed during the meeting.

The meeting will take place at the Prime Minister’s Office in Islamabad. Invitation letters have been dispatched to the heads of the parliamentary parties. The heads or the representatives of all the major political parties are expected to attend the meeting.

The meeting is a step forward towards building a collective voice of all parliamentary parties in reiterating moral, political and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri people in their struggle for the right of self-determination, a spokesman for the federal government said.

The meeting will also provide a chance to the political leadership to reaffirm the national resolve to make the national security impregnable.
