Norway to send 60 troops to Syria

OSLO (Staff Report) – Norway has announced to send as many as sixty soldiers to Syria to impart training to the Syrian forces confronting the Islamic State militant group.

In a press conference at Oslo, Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg said that soldiers associated with the Norwegian Special Forces would remain confined to training camps in Jordan.

The announcement comes just days after United States said that it was sending in another 250 non-combatant troops to Syria to assist local fighters in war against ISIS.

Previously, United States had sent in as many as 50 troops to Syria. The new deployment will bring the total figure to 300.
