PSL7, Match 13: Multan Sultans beat Peshawar Zalmi by 57 runs

KARACHI – Multan Sultans won the 13th match of the seventh edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 7), beating Peshawar Zalmi by 57 runs at National Stadium on Saturday.

Chasing the 223-run target, Peshawar Zalmi batsmen Ben Cutting scored 52 runs off 31 balls, Hazratullah Zazai 43 off 32 balls and Haider Ali 24 off 12 balls. They could score only 165 runs at the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs.

Multan Sultans bowlers Imran Tahir took 3 wickets for 25 runs, Shahnawaz Dahani 3 for 41 runs and Abbas Afridi 1 wicket for 20 runs.

Earlier, Peshawar Zalmi won the toss and decided to bowl first.

Multan Sultans batsmen Mohammad Rizwan scored 82 runs off 53 balls, Tim David 51 off 19 balls and Shan Masood 35 off 25 balls. They piled up a huge total of 222 runs at the loss of 3 wickets in 20 overs for the rival Peshawar Zalmi. Rizwan was declared Player of the Match.

Peshawar Zalmi bowlers Shoaib Malik, Usman Qadir and Salman Irshad took one wicket each.

The match started at 7:30pm.

Defending champions Multan Sultans are on top of the PSL points table as they won all the matches they have played in the tournament so far.

While Islamabad United, Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi have four points each and are placed on the second, third and fourth places, respectively.
