Religious intolerance increasing in India: US Religious Freedom Commission

WASHINGTON (Staff Report) – A recent report by the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom has said that religious intolerance was increasing in India.

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party is supporting Hindu-nationalist groups in fanning intolerance against minorities including Muslims, Christians and even low-caste Hindus, the report noted.

According to the report, minority communities, especially Christians, Muslims and Sikhs had faced numerous incidents of intimidation, harassment and violence, mostly at the hands of Hindu nationalist groups.
