Sardar Mehtab Abbasi resigns as KPK Governor

ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Governor Sardar Mehtab Abbasi Monday resigned from his position, in a bid to mark his return to parliamentary politics.

Abbasi presented his resignation to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in a meeting in Islamabad. The resignation was later forwarded to President Mamnoon Hussain for formal approval.

During the meeting Sardar Mehtab Abbasi also suggested three names, Pir Sabir Shah, Iqbal Zafar Jaghra, Senator Salahuddin Tirmiazi; to the prime minister for appointment of next KPK Governor.

Earlier, Nawaz Sharif had urged Sardar Mehtab Abbasi to give another thought to the decision of resignation.
