NEW DELHI (News Desk) – An Indian court in Anantpur has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for skipper MS Dhoni in case linked to 2013 controversial magazine cover in which the cricketer posed as Lord Vishnu, a religious personality of Hinduism.
The court ordered police to ensure production of Dhoni in hearing on February 25.
According to Indian media reports, a social activist Jayakumar Hiremath had filed a plea against Dhoni saying that the cricketer had hurt religious beliefs of Hindus. A case was also registered against the cricketer under sections 295 and 34 of the Indian Penal code.
During the hearing court also criticised Dhoni for getting involved in such a controversy despite being a well known celebrity. He should have known the consequences of such action but Dhoni preffered to earn money without taking any responsibility, the court remarked.
