Camila Cabello says she and Shawn Mendes ‘drifted’ apart before ‘Señorita’

With their PDA more than confirming their relationship, Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes have been the epitome of summer romance ever since July.

In the new issue of ELLE magazine, Cabello opens up about how the hit collaboration was actually years in the making… and clearly so was their relationship.

The 22-year-old popstar revealed: ‘Shawn basically texted me the idea for Senorita last summer and I wanted to do it, and then I didn’t want to do it, for whatever reason.

‘And then when I wanted to do it he was like “well, now I don’t want to do it”,’ she told E! ‘So we went back and forth for eight months deciding whether or not we were going to do the song together.’

She added that they had ‘drifted apart’ after not spending much time together before working on the project: ‘It was so much fun, I mean I love him with all my heart and always have, and we’ve known each other for a really long time and we’ve always been there for each other."

‘I think we drifted just because we weren’t hanging out as much so it was just fun to be able to reconnect and hang out again.’

“Falling in love, for me, just brings out all of my vulnerabilities. All these things show up for me and it just makes you open. When I am in love I listen to songs and I just cry. I cry easier. That must mean that I’m more open and more in touch with my emotions. All the spectrum of emotions… joy, fear, all of it.”

The two lovebirds are truly living in their own fairytale. Camila Cabello has always loved Shawn Mendes and considering their sizzling chemistry- this revelation isn’t very shocking for everyone.
