The Brazilian was heavily criticised for her cruelty against the animal – who luckily escaped unharmed – and people have called for her to be reprimanded.

The teen claimed she came up with the idea after being told by some friends to do it. A hash tag reading ‘punishment for Vitoria’ trended with Twitter users tearing into the 16-year-old.

One wrote, ‘I cannot believe she was cooking the poor animal,’ and Larissa Dias said the video was only posted because Muller was trying to get more followers.

Rosie agreed, saying: ‘Hoping for likes, Vitoria Muller microwaved her guinea pig,’ while Katherine Baxter asked: ‘What kinda sick person does that.’

After the abuse she was receiving, the girl deleted her social media accounts.

Vitoria’s father took her to the authorities, where she was made to explain the reasons behind her cruel act and was forced to apologise for her ‘shameful behaviour’.

Her father said on social networks that he had punished his daughter, saying: ‘My daughter was already punished for her bad behaviour.

‘The animal is fine and in the name of all my family we apologise. We all take care of animals in this house and we would never let something like this happen. We apologise again for all that happened.’

The authorities seized the animal and transferred it to a veterinary clinic to be seen to, but fortunately, the animal was not injured.

But Jen Scantland said on Twitter: ‘I’m sorry but an apology for a 16-year-old microwaving a live guinea pig is not enough.’
