ISLAMABAD – The Speaker of National Assembly, Ayaz Sadiq in a very ‘surprising statement’ said, “the National Assembly should complete its term, but I do not think it will complete the term, for the first time I am disappointed in my political career and I can only see a “greater plan”.
While speaking on Geo News’ talk show ‘Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath,’ Sadiq said uncertainty was looming around, which has been fuelled by instances such as the delimitation bill not being passed.
Ayaz Sadeq disclosed that I can foresee ‘a greater plan’ (though he did not elaborate on the plan), “you have not seen what happened in Pakistan in the last three months?” he asked the anchor of the talk show, added that “these things are not normal, these are unnatural.”
He said, “it is very sad to see what is happening in the country, whatever is happening is not good for any country, not good for the whole country, we also have to live in this country and our generations too.”
The speaker said this was the first time he has felt hopelessness towards politics. Talking about the helplessness in the incident that followed the Faizabad sit-in and Model Town turmoil, Sadiq said the government could not do much as it was feared that even the slight use of force would wreak havoc.
“I was not much upset even in 2002 during Musharraf’s tenure as I’m now,” he said. “It is not necessary that martial law disrupts the system, but Pakistan has been vulnerable in the past.”
Nevertheless, Sadiq said, the government and even parties in the opposition — with the exception of one — want the government to complete its tenure. “Now it is for the public to decide who has the potential to make the country better.”
The speaker said there is a need to strengthen the country’s system as the “external threats are much bigger than the internal threats.” Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has played a vital role in this as they have been saying since day one that the system must not be derailed, he added.
