Licensed to kill? Karachi SSP s guard shoots pet dog dead

KARACHI (Staff Report) – Guard of SSP Fida Hussain shot dead a dog who was out on a walk with its 70-year-old owner because the animal barked at the police official’s peacock in Karachi.

The dog, named Milli, was a family pet dog. One of the family member, Zehra tweeted, “She was on her evening walk with my father. There were peacocks outside their house, the door to their cage was open. Police officer on duty outside this SSP’s house shot her for that. She was on a leash with my 70 year old father.”

When the owner complained about this high handedness. The guard replied, “Do whatever you wish”.

There was an outrage on Twitter, where several people condemned the mindless act of the guard and tagged PPP minister Sherry Rehman and PTI minister Arif Alvi to bring the incident to their notice.

Rehman took notice of the incident.

This is not about one incidence, but collective attitude of people towards animals. This barbarity resulted because of lack of empathy towards animals, which is deep rooted in our society, coupled with high handedness of police.
