KABUL – Two senior officers of Afghanistan’s premier intelligence service have been killed in two separate attacks by local Taliban fighters in Nangarhar and Doshi district of Baghan, according to media reports.
The vehicle of Abdul Ghafoor Mahmoud, the Deputy Intelligence Chief for Baghlan province, was targeted by the militants when he was traveling to Kabul city from Kelagi area of Doshi district on Sunday morning, the ArianaNews reported.
Baghlan is among the insecure provinces in northern Afghanistan where the Taliban militants are actively operating in a number of its districts.
Another intelligence officer Haji Haroon was assassinated by unknown gunmen in eastern Afghanistan, the reports added.
Both of these NDS officers were believed to be involved in the export of terrorism and suicide bombers to Pakistan on the behest of India.
