Oreos are halal just not halal certified, clarifies company

LAHORE – Muslims around the world were left in shock after one of the most popular biscuit brands, Oreo confirmed that they were not halal.

Oreo’s official Twitter handler mentioned this in a reply to frequently asked question (FAQ) category and wrote that “Thanks for reaching out! OREO cookies are not halal.”

The disclosure came weeks after social media users debated reports that chocolate M&M’s aren’t always halal-friendly and now Oreo cookies have become the centre of the debate; the cookies are made of the basic ingredients like water, sugar, flour, oil, cocoa, chocolate, corn syrup, and several other, which happen to be halal-friendly components, however, the firm has stated an official word about it now.

The news apparently seems to be hard for foodies to swallow as Oreo lovers are now in complete confusion and have started asking if Oreo has not been certified halal or the product includes ingredients which are forbidden for Muslims to consume?
