LAHORE (Web Desk) – The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is going for a new slogan in a bid to revive the party in the wake of new challenges and political realities, The Nation reported.
“Yes, the party is working on a new manifesto and the new party slogan will be part of it,” party spokesperson Farhatullah Babar said.
Babar said the previous election slogans will also remain intact and a new one may be added to the previous ones for 2018 general elections.
The manifesto committee, according to Babar, was working on different aspects to make the party manifesto relevant to the future political needs.
Senior party leaders have been asked to coin the election slogan which would be finalised by Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari from amongst numerous suggestions.
A catchy phrase might be added to the existing slogan of “Roti, Kapra Aur Makan” to attract the youth, according to The Nation.
The new slogan along with the manifesto is most likely to be announced on the party’s foundation day on November 30.
PPP Information Secretary Qamar Zaman Kaira said, currently, the party was in the process of making policies to cope with the new challenges. He called this exercise an overall revamping of the party policies in the face of new realities.
“But we will stick to our original foundations while giving a new programme to the people ahead of the general elections,” Mr Kaira affirmed.
About the new party slogan, he neither denied the information nor did he confirm it.
“It is a routine matter. New slogans and manifestoes are announced in every election,” he maintained, adding the party was currently busy making a policy framework for future requirements.
