NEW DELHI (Online) – Hockey India president Narinder Batra on Monday reiterated his stand with regards to playing against Pakistan in bilateral or other friendly matches.
Batra once again demanded an apology from Pakistan over the “obscene celebratory gestures” made by some of their players after beating India in the Champions Trophy semifinal in December last year.
For resuming bilateral ties, Hockey India wants Pakistan to apologise for the incident in Bhubaneswar and also give an undertaking assuring they would reprimand players if they repeat their antics in future.
Batra also stated that when it comes to India-Pakistan relations, politics and sports cannot be separated and that Hockey India will not tolerate any insults from the neighbours.
However, India will continue to play Pakistan in tournaments and events organised by the FIH.
