Operation Zarb-e-Azb eradicated terrorist networks in FATA: Army Chief

RAWALPINDI – Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif says operation Zarb-e-Azb had irreversibly eradicated terrorist networks from Federally Administered Tribal Areas.

He was addressing the Jirga of tribal elders during his visit to North and South Waziristan on Tuesday.

The army chief said we have made considerable gains in our operations and reached close to our objective of total elimination of terrorism from our soil

He expressed his satisfaction on the progress of return of Temporarily Displaced Persons and directed the concerned authorities to complete the return of remaining TDPs within stipulated time.

Army chief inaugurated eighty-four kilometres long Bannu-Miranshah-Ghulam Khan Road funded by USAID and constructed by Frontier Works Organisation. He said a long strategic central trade corridor to Afghanistan has been completed for all kind of move across the border up to Central Asia.

Meanwhile inaugurating a state of the art Younus Khan sports stadium expressed the hope that enormous talent of FATA youth will be honed with upcoming educational and sports facilities.

Raheel Sharif also lauded tribesmen for their full support to the security forces in their effort for peace and stability of the region.

Tribal elders thanked army chief for cleansing the area from terrorists and bringing peace and ensuring a quality reconstruction work.

Earlier General Raheel Sharif also visited South Waziristan to visit a newly opened Army Public School in Chagmalai and spent time with the children.

He said that only education can help elevate our future generations to growth and prosperity.
