Tayyaba torture case: Accused judge, his wife record statements, deny allegation of torture

ISLAMABAD: Former judge Raja Khurram and his wife who have been accused in the Tayyaba torture case recorded a statement saying the child maid had been hired to look after their newborn son after a payment of Rs. 10,000.

The judge and his wife are both facing charges of hiring and torturing 10-year-old girl Tayyaba. However, Raja Khurram has denied allegations of torturing Tayyaba, adding that he would also buy her chocolates, juices and candies.

He said that he would himself conduct an inquiry to present the facts in the case, and accused a “big mafia” of trapping him.

Following his alleged involvement in the case, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) had appointed the judge as OSD in the court restraining him from official work as a judge.
