QUETTA – Balochistan police have registered another case against legislator Abdul Majeed Achakzai for driving an unregistered vehicle, after he is already embroiled in a hit and run case.

Civil Lines police registered a case against the Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party MPA on Wednesday after forensic examination of his vehicle which ran over a traffic police official on June 20 showed that it was unregistered.

According to the reports, the engine and chassis number of the land cruiser which Achakzai was driving at the time had also been tampered with.

The tampering apparently shows that the MPA had illegally converted an unregistered vehicle into his official vehicle.

Earlier, on Saturday,  an Anti-Terrorism Court turned down Balochistan MPA Abdul Majeed Achakzai’s bail plea.

Majeed’s Vehicle Collision

The lawmaker Majeed Achakzai was arrested last month when he ran over a 42-year-old traffic sergeant Haji Attaullah Dasti as he was directing traffic at Shaheed Fayaz Sunbal Chowk .

He was later shifted to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Rumours of Pardoning

The family of deceased sergeant Haji Attaulla had denied reports of compromise with MPA Majeed Khan Achakzai.

Son of late Ataullah, Moazzam Attaullah informed Geo News, “neither have we reached any agreement nor are we willing to compromise,” adding, “they (Achakzai`s representative) only came for Fatiha Khwaani. They gave us Rs200,000 as Eidi and gave us a blank paper which they asked us to sign and write that we have received the amount for Eidi.”

“They have taken the signature of my grandfather and uncle by deceit,” he claimed and further said: “We will not forgive our father’s killer. The Supreme Court will avenge our father’s death.”

Earlier an alleged agreement letter appeared on social media showing that the family has pardoned the MPA after taking as many as Rs 200,000 and have decided to not pursue the case against the legislator.

On June 28, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar took notice of the death of on duty police officer.
