DERA GHAZI KHAN – Tempers are running high in Dera Ghazi Khan district of southern Punjab after a woman, trying to escape from unknown men who introduced themselves as officials of Darul Aman, was subjected to violence publicly.
The woman, identified as Riffat Bibi, is a resident of Kohlu, Balochistan and came to Dera Ghazi Khan around 15 days ago.
A video of the incident is being circulated on the social media that shows the woman screaming as unnamed men forcefully take her to an undisclosed location from Jam Pur Road.

Witnessing the incident, some passersby intervened and asked the men as to why they are forcing the woman into rickshaw.

According to reports, the incident took place on August 16 (Thursday) in Khyaban-e-Sarwar near Dasti Bridge.
Reports in local media suggest she was asked for some legal documents at a police picket on Wednesday but she failed to show them any identity. Later, she was arrested and was sent to Model Town B police station.
The same day police presented her before the area magistrate on which the court sent her to Darul Aman. However, when she fled Darul Aman on Thursday morning, the staff from Thana Gadai’s area Khayaban-e-Sarwar dragged her back to Darul Aman.
The Darul Aman is a sanctuary for women who have lost familial protection or been rendered destitute.
Police said a man, nominated in the case of kidnaping of the girl, was arrested in Kohlu three days back.
The woman also claimed she was raped at the Darul Aman.
Deputy Commissioner Ali Akbar Bhatti has taken a notice of the incident and ordered a team to investigate the issue.
Social media users have demanded the chief justice take notice of the affairs at Darul Aman in Dera Ghazi Khan.
