Lahore Policeman Suspended After Refusing To Pay For Honey Jar

LAHORE –  A police officer in Lahore, identified as Rasheed, has been suspended following a viral TikTok video that shows him refusing to pay for a jar of honey from a roadside vendor. The video has sparked outrage online, leading authorities to take swift disciplinary action.

The incident occurred when Rasheed took a jar of honey from a vendor, promising to pay “next time.” However, the vendor demanded immediate payment, which escalated into a heated exchange. The vendor, clearly frustrated, can be heard saying, “Everyone saw you take the honey, now pay up.” Rasheed responded dismissively, “You call me ‘Chacha,’ but still ask for money?”

The footage quickly gained traction on social media, drawing widespread criticism and calls for accountability. In response, a police spokesperson confirmed Rasheed’s suspension and revealed that proceedings for his dismissal have been initiated.

This incident underscores the growing demand for accountability and professionalism within law enforcement. Similar cases in the past have led to severe consequences for officers, such as the dismissal of Policeman Muhammad Asif, who faced backlash for misbehaving with an elderly woman at the Central Police Office.

The Punjab Police Inspector General has stressed the importance of maintaining the highest standards of conduct among officers, ensuring that those who abuse their positions face appropriate consequences.
