According to a report published in Express Tribune, the card were issued by NADRA, which claims to be world’s largest and safest citizen data cloud, against bribes ranging from Rs10,000 to Rs20,000. The officials involved in the scam include middle level NADRA officials and some military personnel as well.
“Disciplinary proceedings against 256 NADRA officials were currently underway while more than 116 employees of the authority have already been fired from service,” Federal Minister stated on December 14 while confirming that most of the fake CNICs were issued to Afghan nationals and citizens of middle eastern countries.
Disclosing details about two Indian families who got Pakistani CNICs, the joint findings of ISI and NADRA’s Vigilance Cell said that fakes identity cards were issued in 2004 and both families continued living inside Pakistan till they were traced in 2014.
“Seven members of Khanu Khan’s family had come to Pakistan on temporary visit visa on April 27, 1998, their stay permit expired on May 22,1998. After the expiry of visa the family silently disappeared from Rahimyar Khan city of Southern Punjab to Mirpur Khas city of SIndh where they were successful in getting fake CNICs in 2004 under new names.”
“Khanu changed his name as Ali Muhammad and got CINC number 31302-9980252-9 while his wife Huran Mai 31302-9202224-4 and a son and four daughters Kamal Khan, Kamali Mai, Mahran Mai, Chakmal Mai and Sardaran Mai gor citizenship on CNICs 31301-9107608-5, 31301-9756017-6, 31301-9755162-6, 31302-7484972-0, 31302-1898311-4 respectively.”
Another Indian family of Kamal Khan also got fake CINCs through agent mafia that control majority of NADRA offices to run their shady business.
The NADRA officials initially marked Kamal’s family as suspected however later they were granted identity cards. Their inquiry report confirmed them as Indian nationals however the case is still pending with NADRA.
