Biggest Asian stars were seen under one roof enjoying Chinese style oscars. 55th Golden Horse Awards took place in Taipei on Saturday. Famous director Zhang Yimou was the star of the night as his film “Shadow” was leading this race of awards. Big names of the Asian industry walked on the red carpet ahead of the show. The award show included Taiwanese-American director Ang Lee, superstar Gong Li and Hong Kong’s Andy Lau.
Chinese director Zhang’s film “Shadow” bagged many awards and nominations. It included best actor, best actress, best director and best coveted film. His film is based on epic martial arts inspired by ink brush painting. In total his film got 12 nominations making him star of the night.
Best director contenders were all from China including Zhang Jiang Wen (Hidden Men), Lou Ye (The shadow play), Bi Gang (long days journey into night) and Tibetan Pema Tseden(Jinpa). Chinese industry was seen taking over the award show.
