BENGALURU – An Indian air force (IAF) pilot died after two Surya Kiran jets crashed in the southern Indian state of Karnataka today.
According to Indian media, the incident occurred during an air show rehearsal when two aircraft collided with one another at Bengaluru airport.
The jets suffered a head-on collision, resulting in total damage to the aircraft.

The aircraft burst into flames immediately after the crash, the pilots, however, ejected successfully from both of the aircraft before the incident.
Fighter planes crashes are not uncommon in India which is in the midst of upgrading its Soviet-era military.
