Tariq Fatemi for effective border management with Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD – Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi on Monday reiterated Pakistan’s resolve for making border management effective and underscored the need for cooperation from Afghan side.

He stated this while talking to United Nations Secretary General’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, Ambassador Tadamichi Yamamoto in Islamabad.

He highlighted Pakistan’s desire for establishment of lasting peace in Afghanistan. He also underlined the efforts made by Pakistan for strengthening relations with the Afghan government in order to combat terrorism.

Fatemi further said that political negotiation was a viable option for peace and stability in Afghanistan, for which Quadrilateral Coordination Group remained an effective forum.

Meanwhile, the UN envoy hailed Pakistan for playing a positive role to promote durable peace and stability in Afghanistan.
