PM Abbasi inaugurates LNG terminal in Karachi

KARACHI – Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Monday inaugurated Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) import terminal at Port Qasim in Karachi. The cost has been estimated at Rs50 billion.

Addressing the media, the prime minister said that Pakistan was suffering from severe shortage of power when the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) came into power.

He added that the government took serious steps to control the shortage and started importing gas as it was the only solution to mitigate energy issue.

Cabinet members, Governor Sindh Mohammad Zubair and other officials were present on the occasion on the occasion.

The LNG terminal, a project of Pakistan Gas Company Limited, has been completed in a short period. It will facilitate in supplying LNG to the industries.

PM Abbasi reached Karachi on a two-day visit on Sunday. He held a meeting with Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Monday and discussed various ongoing development projects funded by the federal government in the province.

The prime minister also inaugurated Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) Terminal-2 at Port Qasim on August 27 this year.

Earlier in August, an official at the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources said that imports by the LNG Terminal-1 on Port Qasim fulfill 25 per cent of the national gas shortage. The first terminal had received 102 shipments of LNG.
