LAYYAH (Staff Report) – As many as five people have died in Layyah after they ate poisonous sweets, media reports said on Thursday.
According to local police officials, nine others who too ate the poisonous sweets have been hospitalised. Doctors confirmed that poison was the cause of death of five people.
Police have lodged an investigation into the tragedy.
Following the tragedy, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of the five people. He has sought report of the incident from district administration.
