Pakistan s first transgender newscaster Marvia Malik appears on television

LAHORE – A local news channel Kohenoor TV has hired a transgender newscaster in Pakistan. This would be the first time something like this has happened in the country.

Malik has already walked the ramp for the PFDC Sunsilk fashion week that just passed.

The upper house of Parliment (Senate) recently approved a bill for protection and empowerment for transgender community.

By estimation of Trans Action Pakistan, the number of transgender person is atleast 500,000 (estimate) out of 190 million people in the country.
