ISLAMABAD — The Christian community throughout the world is celebrating Christmas, to celebrate the birth anniversary of Christ on Tuesday. Like other places, a number of celebrations and Christmas prayers are also being held here across the country. Christians started their day with ceremonies in churches amid beefed up security and prayed for country’s sovereignty and prosperity. Christians have decorated their homes and religious places with lights. Residential colonies were also decorated with twinkling lights and stars, and baubles such as bells, pine cones, apples, candies, tinsel, and balloons bedecked trees, streets, houses, and churches. Special Christmas trees are prepared to celebrate the occasion, a private news channel reported. Security has been ramped up at churches across the country. Police contingents have been deployed to protect churchgoers. President Arif Alvi in his message has extended warmest greetings to Christian brethren in Pakistan on the joyous occasion of Christmas and has commended sincere efforts of the Christian community for the socio-economic development of the country. Prime Minister Imran Khan has greeted the Christian community on the auspicious occasion and wished them a happy peaceful Christmas. “Wishing all our Christian citizens a happy and peaceful Christmas”, the Prime Minister said in his tweet.
