NEW YORK – According to Boeing, airlines around the world will require an average of 31,000 new pilots every year from next year onwards, after two decades of successful growth in the industry.
In its yearly forecast of industry staffing needs, the US aircraft builder said staffing needs of carriers will also rise quickly for cabin crew.
A total of 814,000 people will be needed through the 2035, including 679,000 maintenance technicians, according to aviation giant.
The pilot estimate was 10.5 percentage higher than last year’s, Boeing said in a statement.
Forecast growth is most potent in the Asia-Pacific region, with 40 percent of global demand due to the rise of low-cost carriers using single-aisle aircraft like the Boeing 737 and the Airbus A320.
