When a martyred police officer s daughter needed help for wedding, this is what police force did for her – Police officer quotes a memorable incident

LAHORE – The Punjab police are generally lampooned for its inefficiency and slack pace of investigations off and on, however, there is a soft side of the force as well, which often gets neglected.

A senior officer of the department surprised critics recently when he shared a heartfelt incident of how the law enforcers helped arrange the wedding ceremony of daughter of a martyred officer.

Neman Ashraf took to popular forum Quora and answered ‘What made you feel proud today?’ by sharing that the police department recently arranged the nuptial ceremony of the daughter of a slain soldier, Afraiz Khan by bearing the expenses as well as physically showing up at the event.

The cop shared the pictures of the April event showing that the District Police Officer of Attock turned up at the event and the groom was welcomed by the police officers lined up to shower rose petals.

‘Not only full expenses were paid for the whole occasion, including meal and catering, but also the police personnel attended the wedding…. including the district commander,’ explained the officer.

DPO Attock Abadit Nisar also posed for pictures with the groom and bride and graced the occasion with a rare move; he also conveyed his best wishes to policeman’s family and thanked them on behalf of the police department for the services provided by the martyred officer.

The bride’s departure was also unusual because a police pilot led the couple’s ride and a squad followed all the way to groom’s house.

The whole town witnessed the protocol in awe because such an arrangement is usually for high-profile government ministers – not for the ‘underprivileged’ daughter of a martyred cop.

Neman’s answer has garnered thousands of responses from social media buffs, who are now lavishing praise on the police for having displayed a graceful gesture to honour their colleague.
