LAHORE – The Institute of Business Administration (IBA) failed to clinch any spot in the list of top 500 universities of Asia despite all the efforts for quality education in the South Asian country.
The annual rankings issued by world leading ranking authority Quacquarelli Symonds(QS) put 23 varsities of Pakistan in the list, laying bare the standard of education in the Crème de la crème institutes of the country.
However, there was some good news, as the number of Pakistani universities in the top league climbed to 23 from the previous year’s number of just 16. The leader among Pakistani universities remained the same. National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) was again declared the top university in Pakistan in QS Asia University Rankings 2019.
23 Pakistani universities ranked among top 500 Asian institutes
Nust climbed up from 112 last year to 87 in the 2019 rankings, while Lums, which was placed at 103 last year, moved up to 95.
Quaid-i-Azam University, that stood at 133 last year, also improved its ranking and is placed at 109 in the 2019 list. Karachi University also made it to the rankings in the 251-260 grouping.
However, the IBA is nowhere to be found on the list.
QS evaluates universities based on six indicators: academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty students ratio, citation per faculty, international faculty ratio and international students ratio, says a press release issued QS on Thursday.
