ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan asserted on Monday that Indian premier Narendra Modi had opened the way for Kashmir freedom by revoking the special status granted to the occupied valley.
In an address to the nation, the premier termed the revocation of special status as a historic blunder by the BJP regime in India, however, added that Pakistan won on the diplomatic front.
“We internationalized the Kashmir issue, talked to heads of states, their embassies [and] the UN Security Council called a session on Kashmir for the first time since 1965. We also kept raising this for the international media to report and they picked this up,” the premier highlighted.
The premier said the time had come for Pakistan’s Kashmir policy to take a “decisive” turn, highlighting that his first priority after assuming power was to generate peace in the country.
Recounting that both India and Pakistan share many problems including unemployment, inflation and climate change, the premier said Islamabad wanted to build ties with New Delhi.

“From the start of our term, we made many overtures for dialogue but there were always some problems. They would look for opportunities to accuse Pakistan of terrorism,” the prime minister said while referring to India.
Imran Khan elaborated that Pakistan waited for Indian elections to wind up, thinking that the situation would be different thereafter but said the Pulwama accident happened and New Delhi pinned blame on Pakistan.
“After the elections, we realised they had a different agenda and they tried to blacklist Pakistan at FATF,” the premier regretted.
The premier highlighted that sending additional military troops in Kashmir and announcing that it was now part of India was against the vision of their founding fathers and UN resolutions.
He said it was important for the public to understand the ideology of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) party as they believe that Hindus are supreme and others are second-class citizens.

“They have a fascist ideology, they have been sidelined by India’s past government as a terrorist organisation,” he shared.
Pakistan’s premier said they [RSS] were the ones who assassinated [Mahatma] Gandhi for trying to promote Hindu-Muslim unity.
Premier Khan explained that this [RSS] ideology was seen by Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah who worked towards the creation of Pakistan.
“Our ideology is based on the Holy Quran and believes in the protection of minorities; RSS has the opposite mindset,” the premier clarified.
The premier said Pakistan had received information that they [India] were planning a false-flag operation like what they did in Balakot, to divert attention from occupied Kashmir.
The premier said he believes the entire nation should stand with the Kashmiri nation.
I have said this that I will act as Kashmir’s ambassador, said the premier and added that he would raise this issue at the UN as well.
Imran Khan said there was no need to be disappointed at the Muslim states not siding with Kashmir.
“I want to tell you not to be disappointed; if some countries are not raising this issue because of their economic interests, they will eventually take this issue up. They will have to, with time,” he observed.
He said the western media has never criticized India as much as it is doing right now, assuring the Kashmiri people that whether the world stands with them or not, Pakistan will.
The prime minister announced that a ceremony will be organized every week to show solidarity with the Kashmiri people and coming Friday, the nation will come out between 12-12:30pm to show solidarity.
He said they (India) have played their trump card and they don’t have any card to play now.
Now whatever needs to be done will be done by us and the world, the prime minister shared.
The premier addressed the global giants and warned that they should remember both India and Pakistan have nuclear weapons.
Prime Minister Imran Khan, however, said in a nuclear war, no one will win, warning that it will not only wreak havoc in this region, but the entire world will face consequences.
