VIDEO: Samsung sues brand ambassador for using iPhone in TV show

MOSCOW – Tech giant Samsung has reportedly sued its Russian brand ambassador for using rivals gadget — iPhone X — on a TV show.

Kseniya Sobchak — politician, journalist, and Vladimir Putin’s ‘goddaughter’ – was caught using what looks like an iPhone X at a TV show.

The celebrity tried her best to hide iPhone from the cameras, by covering the logo and using a piece of paper to conceal her phone. However, she failed to do so.

Sobchak, 36, was hired by Samsung to market its smartphones in Russia; the South Korean company did not take it lightly and decided to get its money back and sued for $1.6 million, reported The Mirror.

It can be further noted that this is not the first time that the actress was using the iPhone as she has been spotted at multiple occasions with the Apple devices.

It is unknown how much Sobchak was originally paid by Samsung, but it is likely the suit’s claimed damages are far higher in value, including penalties for breaking the agreement.

Sobchak – who ran against Putin in the Russian presidential elections earlier this year – used to have a party girl reputation and was dubbed the Russian Paris Hilton.

Samsung Russia is yet to make an official comment on the matter.

This is not the first time any brand ambassador caught cheating in agreement as earlier this year, Google India’s brand ambassador Anushka Sharma was seen promoting Google Pixel 2 by uploading a picture on her official Twitter handle using ‘iPhone’.
