The frustrated men in the world do not even spare innocent girls and females by sexually assaulting them thus destroying their lives. Many of these girls commit suicide or are unable to get married since they are considered having bad ‘reputation’ though it is a bad ‘experience’ of their life. A girl of 23-years living in a village was raped by four men and the offenders filmed the sexual assault on her which has been circulated online since then according to BBC. The girl was a school teacher and she had to quit her day job thus staying at home when the whole village discovered what had happened to her. Two versions of video of the sexual assault are circulating on the Internet at the moment – one is around five minutes long while the other is about 40 minutes in length. The girl was on her way to market to buy a school uniform for her sister when she was kidnapped. Afterwards, she was threatened with a gun and the hoodlums took her to a house where they gratified their sexual urge while the shameless act was filmed also. She pleaded to them to let her go but that further enraged the men who beat her even more then. The men told her that if she did not succumb to their desires and failed to obey what they wanted, then they would show the video to everyone and would put it up on the internet. They also threatened to hurt her sisters and brothers. The girl was too humiliated after they released her that she did not go out of her house and neither did she tell anyone about the incident. Her uncle saw the video and showed it to her father. “She felt too ashamed to tell me because I’m her father. If her mother had been alive, I’m sure my daughter would have told her,” her father said. The family reported the crime after seeing the video and the offenders were also finally arrested. The girl knows that the video is still online and being watched. She said: “A lot of people are watching this video for fun, they see it as something interesting,” she said. The accused are behind bars and facing a trial. The irony is that the video has not been deleted yet and continues to circulate. Rape is a global crime. In USA, a female is raped every two minutes on the average according to old FBI Statistics. Can we control this crime in Pakistan and not follow the trends abroad?
