ISLAMABAD – Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif Thursday went hard on political rivals and sought both political money trail and details of earning from mausoleums from PTI stalwart Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
‘They have been earning profit from mausoleums for the last 200 years,’ he said, adding that the properties were given to their elders as a reward for killing Muslims and supporting British rulers.
Speaking on a point of order in the lower house, the minister said that those who were levelling allegations against the prime minister should present their own money trail.
He asked the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders to present themselves for accountability like the prime minister, who according to him, presented records of three generations before the nation.
‘People would decide in general election 2018 who had the right to rule the country,’ said the minister.
The legislator claimed that the Prime Minister had not breached the sanctity of the august House and that it was breached by the PTI members.
“The Pakistani nation has the biggest privilege and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif enjoys the same,” asserted Khawaja Asif.
It is relevant to mention that the National Assembly turned into a wrestling arena on Thursday when lawmakers from the opposition and government started fighting and thrashed on another during a session.
The NA session under Speaker Ayaz Sadiq turned violent when the public representatives came to blows, a television footage showed.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Shahryar Afridi earlier went up to the government’s benches and started a brawl with Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Minister of Petroleum and Natural Resources.
During the session, PTI members led by Shah Mehmood Qureshi chanted ‘thief, thief’ slogans in the parliament and recorded protest by standing up on their benches.
Qureshi during his speech said that it was not a monarchy where a PM had contradictory statements on the same issue.
Qureshi alleged that the missing pages of an “open book” were being filled up with letters of Qatari prince.
