ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – Federal Interior Minister Chuadhry Nisar Ali Khan extended the deadline of SIM verification till May 15 while chairing a meeting on Tuesday.
The minister was briefed about the mobile phone SIM verification campaign of PTA where officials informed him that most of the SIMs have been verified biometrically. Over 70 million SIMs were verified whereas around 20 million got blocked upon non-authentication, the officials said.
Nisar, after reviewing the situation, extended the deadline to verify the phone SIMs biometrically.
He declared that no SIM card will be verified after this deadline passed.
Earlier PTA had set April 12 as the deadline for biometric verification of mobile phone SIM cards.
