LAHORE – Authorities in Pakistan have found more than 2,200 cars registered in the name of a retired judge, according to a report in The Dawn.
But, Sikandar Hayat, 82, owns just one car, his lawyer Mian Zafar has informed the Supreme Court.
According to Zafar, his client had received a challan [fine] a few days ago for a car which he did not own.
Upon contacting the Punjab Excise and Taxation Department, it emerged that a total of 2,224 vehicles had been registered in Hayat’s name.
After hearing the lawyer, the top court directed the department’s secretary and director to submit a report on the matter within a week.
