India’s efforts to impede the SAARC process regretted: FO

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) India has a trail record of impeding the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) process, a conglomerate of the South Asian nations aimed at uplifting socio-economic conditions of this area, which is extremely regrettable.

India’s negative attitude had a direct bearing on the well-being and betterment of the region, which was highly regrettable, Foreign Office Spokesperson Wednesday said in a statement carried on the official Twitter account.

He stated the major thrust of SAARC activities was to lift up the socioeconomic conditions of the citizenry of South Asia, which takes in the highest concentration of the world’s poor.

“Indian intentions of creating hurdles yet again is visible from the actions and statements at the political level during the last two months coupled with coordinated media efforts.”

The representative stated that India was desperate to divert the international community’s attention from the atrocities and blatant human rights violations being perpetrated by its occupation forces in the Occupied Kashmir against the defenseless Kashmiris.

During the last eighty days, the Indian occupation forces had martyred more than 100 innocent Kashmiris including children, adult females, and young men and caused eye injuries to over 800 others through use of pellet guns.

Hundreds of innocent Kashmiris were blinded either completely or partially, besides injuries to over more than 12,000 people.

The Indian atrocities had attracted the world attention which was demonstrated in the strong condemnations and calls by the international political and human rights organizations as also members of the civil society from across the world for sending fact finding delegations to the IOK, he added.
